JSCC offers Orientation to Industrial Maintenance
James Sprunt Community College will begin registration for the Certified Production Technician (CPT) training course with an orientation class, “Orientation to Industrial Maintenance.” The class will begin Tuesday, February 17 and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 19. Classes are held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at JSCC’s West Park facility at 946 Penny Branch Rd. in Warsaw. Additional orientation classes will be scheduled for April and May.
Individuals with training in basic computer skills will have an opportunity to earn their North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate (CRC). This course is required for anyone planning to enroll in the Certified Production Technician (CPT) training and is eligible for financial assistance. CPT training is tentatively scheduled to start sometime in June for 12 weeks. That class will meet from 6:00 pm -10:00 pm Tuesday through Thursdays.
The CPT course provides training for national certification in four areas: safety awareness, manufacturing processes, quality practices, and maintenance awareness. Upon successful completion of the program, students will enroll in a Job Search class that will provide opportunities with local industries, which agreed to give interviews for these graduates. The CPT program is being offered through JSCC’s Continuing Education Division.
To register, contact the Continuing Education office at 910-296-2461 or 910-296-2080. Financial assistance is available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.
