The Male Mentoring Achievement Program

The Faculty, Staff and the Board of Trustees are excited about the potential of our 2MAP initiative. We encourage our male students to take advantage of the mentoring program. The program is designed to increase graduation and retention rates at JSCC.

Program Objectives           

1. Provide awareness of health issues that are important to this population during the funding period.

2. Provide a weekly seminar to be taught by JSCC faculty/staff which will include the following topics: learning styles, goal setting, time management, career planning, diversity, budgeting, note and test taking, reading for understanding and study skills.

3. Provide career and educational mentoring through opportunities to shadow successful minority male college students.

4. Provide specialized supportive counseling and activities that increase their chances for completing higher education and obtaining a degree.

5. Provide financial aid, grant, and scholarship information.
