POSITION: Accounting Assistant

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: March 2, 2009

DUTIES: Provide assistance to the Fiscal Services staff in the management and reporting of financial resources and expenditures, design and use spreadsheets, monitor budgets and solve discrepancies.

QUALIFICATIONS: RequiredAssociate Degree in Accounting or closely related field.  Some computer and word processing skills.  PreferredSome computerized accounting or clerical experience.  Some word processing and spreadsheet experience.  Bilingual

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time/Annual

POSITION: Senior Administrative Assistant/ Student Activities Advisor – Vice President of Student Services

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: March 2, 2009

DUTIES: Perform necessary secretarial functions to insure the smooth operation of the office of the Vice President of Student Services.  Perform other administrative assistant/secretarial functions for Student Services personnel on an as needed basis.  Assist in the collection and analysis of data in response to Institutional Effectiveness needs and Federal/State Reports.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required:  Associate Degree in Secretarial Science or closely related field.  Computer application and word processing skills; experience with Datatel applications.  Three to five years of administrative experience in a community college setting at Level 5 or its equivalent.  Preferred:  Three to five years of administrative experience in student development at Level 5 or its equivalent. Bilingual.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time/Annual

SALARY RANGE: Based on James Sprunt Community College Salary Plan, Level 8

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on instructional needs each semester

QUALIFICATIONS: Achievement of an "A" or "B" in the course to be tutored. Minimum grade point average of 2.5, 3.0 preferred. Professional Tutor – Bachelor degree in teaching education, math, science, English, Spanish or related field. Demonstrated competency in communicating with others. Evidence of responsibility, a desire to help others, and a willingness to be flexible in scheduling. Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population. When possible, experience as a former Student Support Services participant.

POSITIONS: Part-Time Continuing Education Bilingual Instructor

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Ongoing

DUTIES: James Sprunt Community College, located in Duplin County, is seeking a qualified part-time instructor for the Continuing Education Department. Instructors perform a variety of duties to include providing instruction to aid students in improving their knowledge and skills. Other duties would include recruitment for class and follow-up, preparation and training, confidential and accurate recordkeeping. Duties and schedule of work assignments are as determined by Occupational Extension Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Some teaching/facilitation experience (public schools, volunteer tutor, church related, etc). Ability to display empathy, warmth, and courtesy to students. Good written and oral communication skills. Bilingual. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree. Teaching experience at a community college.

POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

James Sprunt Community College seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach for the Huskins program.
We anticipate a need for instructors in the following areas: Mathematics, Music, Sociology, History, Psychology, and Religion. These are college level courses taught during the day on high school campuses to qualified high school students.

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on instructional needs each semester

QUALIFICATIONS: Huskins Instructors must have either a Master’s Degree in the subject being taught or a Master’s Degree in another subject plus 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught (e.g. applicants who wish to teach a History course should have either a Master’s Degree in History or have a Master’s Degree in another subject plus eighteen graduate hours in History).
